Description: The final essay invites you to consider the reality of euthanasia and other end of life healthcare practices in light of Catholic teaching. You should use material from the textbook, lecture, and documentary to write the essay.
Instructions:
Write a minimum of 4 pages for your critical thinking essay #2.
You MUST use the See-Judge-Act method or Pastoral Circle method to create a dialogue between contemporary ethical dilemmas related to Euthanasia and End of Life issues and the fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching or the Catholic ERD document.
First, you are to describe common practices of WHAT IS taking place in healthcare practices and policies today by referencing the textbook and other materials from websites such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, Harvard Medical Review, etc.
Second, you will discuss WHAT OUGHT to be taking place in healthcare practices in regard to end of life issues as described by scripture, the Catholic tradition, and/or the Catholic ERD document.
Third, you will describe what actions need to be taken in order for a Catholic/Christian ideal to become reality.
By integrating an analysis of these two realities (real ethical situations and CSCT) the final essay will fulfill CORE curriculum requirement E3 and E4. Except in the case of an emergency, late papers will be penalized a full letter grade for each day they are late. You are REQUIRED to have AT LEAST 2 source CITATIONS per page. A seven-page paper would, therefore, have at least 14 CITATIONS.
