This final exam is written, and you will have a choice of questions. I expect about a page and a half for each question. Everything is put through anti-cheating software, so copy and pasted answers will be caught and penalized (with a zero). You get points for clearly answering the question and providing details and specifics to back up your answer. This is like a glorified discussion post, in that regard.
Choose 2 of these 3 options. 75 points each.
1. Unfortunately, we did not have time to cover Chapter 11 in the Textbook, about court culture internationally. This chapter discusses developments around the world, from Africa to Asia. If you choose this option, compare a culture from this chapter with what we learned was going on in Europe at this time. Think in terms of religious expression, court culture, literature etc. [Note: You may choose to do TWO of essays based on this question (and cover two cultures discussed in it) and earn all 150 points for the exam this way, or you may choose to do only one for 75 points]
2. Throughout the class, the textbook and professor tried to make connections between the medieval world and the modern. What are some of the most important contributions of the medieval world to the modern? Name three and provide details and context.
3. In the Middle Ages, both Islam and Christianity continued to be influenced by the ancient world. List three examples of how this practically played out in art, literature, music, or architecture.
