Option #1: Goblin Market, the 19^th Century, and/or the Contemporary World

For this topic, we studied Christina Rossetti’s, Goblin Market.  You are to do the following:

• Perform a literature review via Niagara University’s research database systems. You may also use Google Scholar.  Locate two articles that study your selected text which connect to some argument you would like to explore about your selected text.  Feel free to bring in contemporary issues in relation to the text.  For instance, students have brought in #metoo in the past.
• Compose a 4-5 page essay as follows:
  1. In your introduction, state your thesis that outlines the argument will explore and a brief statement about the two sources you selected from your research.
  3. In the first section of the essay, perform a literature review in which you summarize, paraphrase, and directly cite the most important elements of the source and/or which ideas expressed in the source resonate with you the most.
  5. In the second section of the essay, enter a synthesize the secondary sources from the first section of the essay. Offer your responses to their ideas, where you assert how their ideas align with your own reading.
  7. In the third section of the essay, offer an interpretation of your primary source. This will probably include instances where you explore the text in a unique/novel way that connects to your argument found in your thesis.
  9. In your conclusion, summarize your essay and provide closure.
